I had a customer who wanted a free-standing cabinet for their kitchen. It was about 60" long and 24" deep with two doors and 2 shelves on one end, 2 shelves, no doors on the other end. The top was solid oak. They insisted it be made of solid oak...no oak plywood...solid oak. I said it was going to be expensive and they could get one cheaper if it was not solid oak. They said they didn't care what it cost. When I billed them $6500, they just about blew a gasket. Anyone who has built a cabinet out of solid oak realizes the time involved in milling, gluing and clamping, then sanding all of those big surfaces, and realize that then still got a good deal.
