I started using synthetic oil after we moved south to help care for my grandparents in 2005. I drove 1100 miles a week to work and back, so I only changed the oil four times a year. New filter every month, though. I wouldn't do that with dino oil.
Now that we're back in town, my commute is only 15 minutes. I still change it on the same schedule, but dino oil is cheaper, so I use that more often than not..
