There is something loose in your front axle, steering or front suspension.

Death wobble is simply a the result of something loose. It can be started by an unbalanced tire, bent rim or a good bounce in the road. One of the above will shake the front end. Normally, with a tight front end you simply get that shake as it is absorbed by the front end and you the driver. When something is loose the shake is much bigger and will not stop as the front end starts bouncing back and forth with in the slop inthe front end.

Check all the steering linkage there should be no movement between any component. Check the knuckles and the wheel bearings. Check the spring pins and bushings there should be no slop. Pull the pins and check for wear. Also check the shackle bushings and pins. Again there should be no wear. Also move the front tires to the rear one at a time then drive to see if there is any difference. If a bent rim or unbalanced tire is the problem you should feel a difference.

I know it is a pain to do all of the above but it will solve the problem. I went through this with both my trucks. I still have a very minor shake at 45 MPH but it is there and gone real fast. I suspect a slightly bent rim.

Putting a damper on the front end is just a band aid to hide a problem. It can’t fix death wobble.
