My personal rule is to never follow behind a semi. Period. If they are going the speed limit of 65, and I am going the speed limit of 65, I pass them anyway - as soon as possible - and at high rate of speed that gets me away from them as quickly as possible.

I have seen the damage that can happen when tread separates from a tire.
