Interesting info! I wasn't aware of this carburizing liquid. After dunking the heated metal into the liquid, I wouldn't have thought the metal would be at elevated temperature long enough to absorb enough carbon for good hardness, but maybe so.

I agree about the potential for warpage. The part needs to be heat treated in the rough-machined condition, so that when it warps, that extra material can be removed to bring the part into spec. It will have to be ground, as it will be too hard to machine using cutting tools. I don't know just how much extra material is needed, but I would guess 0.020 or 0.030" extra diameter for a shaft like this would be plenty. The sleeve would need some extra on the OD and ID as well.
