Coldest in this Polar Vortex has been -19. But at high noon with beautiful sun and blue sky it was still sub zero.
Coldest I have seen it at Schroon Lake was Christmas Eve 1995. At midnight we took a Snowshoe/Headlamp hike 2 mile back of my home on the Mountain to a small lake. It was beautiful. The ice crystals on the snow looked like a field of diamonds
