I rebuilt the differentials on all my old iron, 2 sets got ARB lockers. I never felt the need to replace the existing bearings, including the double cup bearing. After removal, cleaning and inspection, I determined they were good to go back in.

I think to many times bearings are replaced just because they have been in service, thats not always true. I suggest that many dollars can be saved if you clean/inspect the used bearings, replace only if inspection shows them needing
replacement. If your not sure, take them to a qualified person to make the determination.

One of the well know and respected vendors who rebuilds differentials does not automatically
replace the bearings.....but rather only the bearings where he feels the need.

The older bearings may well be better quality that some of the junk now being sold.
