Thanks Vaughn...that’s what I thought & I was chatting with Steve Kagi & that’s what he thought...I mean a modern piston seems to always have the 3 piece ring at the bottom however there’s only the one. My guess is it wouldn’t make a big difference...apparently they’re often mixed up because as I said, the part that alarmed me was I was stopping at my other shop to grab my ring compressor & I thought I’d look at the old pistons. When I saw they were opposite to how I put them...I figured it was worth asking! Just because whoever rebuilt it last time installed them that way doesn’t really help me :(
