Are we talking the same machine shop that did the crank? What is the reputation of this shop? I would wonder if they did both of them. Time to find a better shop to correct things at the expense of the first shop.
When I had my engine rebuilt I checked out close to 10 shops after I had very good reviews from the local speed people.
The shop I chose for the rebuild refused to do the crank. They sent it to a shop that is a noted crankshaft shop and would do a much better job. This shop only did crankshafts and came highly recommend by everyone. Yes it cost we a little extra but no problems in 18 years since the rebuild.
