I hear you. The prices these are bringing now have brought the $ seekers out. Sometimes other factors come in too though. Take for example one of my next projects. It's a '61 WM300 that was a Montana Power truck. Ordered as a cab and chassis and had no bed when I got it. I always liked the second series beds best as I feel they were the best styled. I bought reproduction from Matt which I will use when the time comes.

Will it hurt the value? Yes, to a guy who wants a 100% accurate resto. Thing is, I'm not building it for someone else or to make money. I'm doing it because I like it and it's what I want. They don't pay the bills or do the work.

I totally agree in calling someone out when they talk about a "correct" restoration and it isn't. It's come pretty clear now that the restomods will sell for more than a 100% restored version. Just like most people want a cleared bed over an original black spray painted version. I think there is a niche for everything but the days of doing them for cheap are fading fast.
