Hunter fan

Since there is a variety of skilled people who are involved with Power Wagons I hope you don't mind a request for suggestions with this.
We have a Hunter ceiling fan/light that is about 20-25 years old. I replaced the receiver in the fan and the hand held remote a year or so ago. The wall switch needs to be turned on for the remote to control the light and the fan speed. The past few weeks we have noticed that the light turns on after we are in bed. Last night I brought the remote to our bedroom because it will not operate the fan or the light from there. About 15 minutes later, the light was on. So how is this light turning on by itself, and why only sometime between 11 pm and 6 am, and never any other time of the day? Thanks for your thoughts.
