Hello All,
Finally have started the 3rd member ratio change on my WC 1/2 ton. The rear third change was smooth as silk. Looks like I may have a problem with pulling the front 3rd member out. I have a 25” motor and to pull the 3rd member all the way out of the axle housing I need 8”. I measured the distance from the axle housing to the front of the oil pan and it is 7”. Can’t remember if I pulled the rear 3rd member all the way out or if I pulled it out a few inches and let it drop down at an angle (old age ceasing in). I really don’t want to pull the oil pan. What are your thoughts. I’m hoping to pull it out 6” and angling it down that way. Sad thing is, if this works to remove it, installing it should really be fun since I can’t use pilot studs because of the distance. I’m installing 4.10’s in place of the 4.30’s that were in it.
