I'm 6 years deep in mine, and still working on it nearly every day.
Granted I had to take some time away from it for health reasons, and then finance reasons from the health reasons; but I'm back at it. You'll get there. Just be glad you can drive yours some in between the modifications. So far I have steered mine around for a half mile of flat tow and then literally had a dream that I was driving it last night.
