I agree with you, Greg. I had also looked up the torque figures for a 5/8" fine thread Grade 5 bolt, and found the same numbers as you (Fastenal website). In the archived thread I mentioned, the 40 ft-lbs figure was indeed quoted as being correct for the tie rod end ball stud nut. That same post said the pinch bolt torque is much less (I think it said 15 ft-lbs).

Now, if I can just keep the ball stud from rotating while I torque the nut, then I'll go with 130 ft-lbs. I greased the hole in steering knuckle, where the ball stud goes. Maybe I shouldn't have done that.
