Dot 5 brake fluid

The wheel cylinders for the 36 Desoto were sent out by the customer to rebuild them. When they came back there was a note in the box saying not to use Dot 5. only 3 or 4. Any body now why. The Car is getting a new brake system and we were going to install Dot 5 fluid. Thanks
