I do not like Dot 5 at all. I work on forklifts since 78. When Dot 5 1st came out we had a customer that had a cooler/freezer operation. They bought 4 new stand up lifts from the company I work at. This unit has 2 vertical drive motors with brake ass'y on top of them. they were about 6" flat circle. All of them started leaking brake fluid. We pulled them apart and found a ring of pitting all the way around the brake cylinder. While Dot 5 does not absorb water, the water was floating on top of the brake fluid. And pitted the cylinder. The mfg of the lifts answer was to have brakes ass'y made out of stainless steel. Cost them a boat load of money to replace all of them.
