There was a post by MoparNorm at the link below, which made me think all the torque runs through one axle shaft when the ARB is in the open differential mode.

Looking at his post again, maybe I misunderstood what he wrote. I'm referring to the part where he says, "you turn the switch off and silently and instantly the collar slides back into it's resting place on only one axle end and the function returns to an open diff." Reading this last night, I got the impression that all driving torque was going through only one shaft whenever the ARB was in the open diff mode. Despite the description by Norm, I guess the torque is still going through both shafts? That would make much more sense, but not how I read it at first.
