No, the ARB is a "select-able" locker.

When unlocked the ARB operates exactly the same way the differential does in your truck now. Which is what you want most of the time.

When you lock the ARB both axles are tied together and spin at the same speed. Great when you don't have traction, horrible when you're trying to go around a corner on pavement.

Since you control when the unit locks up you get an open differential on the street and a locked one only when you want/need it.

The lock-rite and any limited-slip type setup is trying to be an automatic version of the ARB. You have to adapt to how it is designed to operate.
