Don't know why you would want to pull them, as the hubs are assembled to the drum at the factory, then turned on a lathe to make them "round".
I found it easier to just pull the whole assembly to rebuild my brakes.
If separating is necessary, try concentrated heat and pene oil non the screw and use your method described. Worse case, pull hub and drum, then attack the screws with method described with using pene oil on both sides of screw. Be sure to mark hub and drum for exact re assembly to maintain shoe surface "roundness".
