Your making it hard on yourself. Clean all battery/ground/starter connections first and re/connect them. Clean under the ground on the block also. If this dose not work then use jumper cables to clamp onto the engine with the neg. and clamp onto the battery positive cable. Then try the starter make sure the lever is moving enough to make connection the inside. All it does is push a piece of copper plate across two spots. If I don't push hard enough on the pedal my starter won't work it takes a full push.
