When I got my green truck on the road, it drove me nuts with stalling, running rough, no fire. Tried coils, carb re-re-re-builds... Turned out to be a bad crimp connector at the coil.

Try wiggling wires while it does crank? Unhook coil so it won't start first.

Auto trans with neutral safety switch prob? Those used a small solenoid, neutral was the ground. Jump it to ground, if appropriate.
