Response to Mike and Joe

What I have is a 15cwt pickup...Chev. CMP no 11.
It came from Petawawa. It apparently was used to tow a single barrel AA. The pickup box had two seats for the crew and spare barrel.
It has the usual storage box between the cab and the box. It was owned by the second owner for over 4o years in a service station outside of Almonte and It was bought with the original mil manual for the gigasntic sum of $135.00. The bids woul;d have been cheaper but some local farmer wanted to cut it up for the winch.

My experience with winches on M37 has been rather negative. Every time I got stuck the winch was on the wrong end. A good 3 ton `come-a-long`` workes wonders if you are patient and have understanding friends. also the shear pins on M37 winches always break when you are in 3 feet of liquid mud or a freezing torrent. Pneumonia is always and option.

And don`t say M37 goo anywhere...... With an inexperienced or stupid driver, myself included they can really get into a mess. After all is said and done I never had to walk home... late by a few days yes.... a friend of mine limped a M43 on 5 cylinders for over 100 miles at 10 miles an hour after one cylinder put a rod out the side going down hill too fast with the load pushing the engine beyond limits. But we got home.

Joe I may need some advice when I start working on mine. Will stay in touch.

Thanks Bob C.
