If it is a manual it will stay the same. Gears are mechanically locked together. That can't change unless the clutch slips. If your slipping 5 MPH at 55 MPH your clutch will go out real fast from heat. Now if it is a Automatic I can't answer for that but you would think the Tork Converter would be pretty much locked at that speed but??
