Engine RPM Question

My 53 Dodge B3f 1.5 ton truck has the 237 flat head engine. It runs down the road real nice at 55 mph at 3000 rpm. Are these flat head engines designed to run all day long at that rpm? Any pro's, con's from you guys? Oh the engine has 18,000 original miles on it. Thanks
