I agree with you Brent, if your gonna keep and use these split rims,its best to let an experienced tire man show you how its done so you can do your own, safely. Lets say your 4-wheeling out in the boonies,you have a flat but you've got a spare, but before you get outta the boonies, you have another flat, what you gonna do then, lug a 100lb. tire to the not open shop on a sunday afternoon or take out your patch kit and patch the tube and remount the tire. The odds are your not gonna have two flats but hey,what if, could you fix your own flat if need be ? As one safety item for your repair kit, add 5 lenghts of chain that can be placed around the tire and ring and through the rim, each being hooked,latched in some secure manner.Fear of decapitation should be your biggest safety measure.
