Syphon systems don't work worth a crap.

I bought the Harbor Freight cabinet, the bigger free standing one. $200? And borrowed a neighbor's pressure pot. HF, about $65? Plus a cylconic duct collector that I built. But it is only 1/2 hp. Plus a Caterpillar size paper filter. Dunno if a shop vac would suffice, but I run it all with the bottom sand drain flap open on the cabinet- the dust goes up, the grits do down into a bucket to pour back into the hopper/pot.

I also use the pot and dust collector w/ a visqueen tent over PVC pipe frame to blast bigger stuff. Pic is of frame on two engine stands as rotary stand. Blast, turn, blast, turn, move tent down. The dust collector sucks enough air that the wand I use on the and hose gets inserted through a flap in the tent, and I stay outside in dust free air. No respirator required. Face mask yes.

I did my cab and frame, and also used the tent and cyclone as a spray booth. The persnickety neighbor didn't even know I was working on it until I rolled out the cab & chassis. And I haven't touched it in the two years since...
