I have 2 Dodge WCs, which I drive in the snow, take garbage to the dump, haul big and heavy objects, and just for fun. I put less than 300 miles per year average between the 2, so it is almost all local driving.
I put 900-16s on my WC12, partially because I think the look better than the 7:50-16s, I could coax a few more mph, and slightly improve the dismal fuel economy. The WC12 can keep up with local traffic reasonably well and I get fewer I finger waves on 2 lane roads.
I also have a WC 53 that is stock and can cruise comfortably between 45 and 50 mph, but fuel economy never was a critical component in the design.
Most people do cut me some slack with the lack of speed on faster roads. I do get a lot more friendly waves than the bird.
How you want to configure your vehicle is a personal choice. I wanted to keep mine as original as possible.
