OK lots a folks her use there trucks just the way Dodge made them. Others perform upgrades on engine and drive line. Thats is fine. But there is some on here that do not have much drive time behind the wheel of our trusty Dodges. They sit here and read others about how they cant drive them, to slow to use them, Need to change gears and engines. We have to make them go faster. I owned a WC54 for about 10 years. She had a cosmetic Restoration on her and the drive line was just about original. {electric fuel pump] After going over the brakes system and fluid services, [NEW MECHANICAL FUEL PUMP] She was ready for her first trip. I have two other WCs so i knew how they drove, Boys was I surprised how slow the truck was. So back to the shop and have a look see. The truck started good Idle was good, all tune up items looked to be in good order. I decided to go over all the tune up specs. This is what I found. Distributor advance frozen, timing was set wrong, Gas pedal linkage would not open throttle all the way. So she got all new tune up parts, adjustments set and it was like a new Truck, ran at 45 to 48 mph nice. Even the vacuum wipers worked better. So you can drive these trucks today without changing out stuff to make them go faster.You can if you want but all things go together, No the trucks limits and you can enjoy her for years to come.
