Steering Wheel Removal

Currently, I am working on a 1956 flat fender Power Wagon.The problem is that I am trying to remove the steering wheel from the column without damaging the wheel.I know in the past I have read many articles about this and the damage that can occur to the wheel if done improperly.My local auto parts dealer tried to help me locate the correct puller but was unable to. So, if anybody out there can help me , I would appreciate it. Thanks.
