I tried to get into my land from the St Joe side, so from Wallace, that's west on I-90 to the Rose Lake exit, south to St Maries, and up the St Joe river road to Hoyt. Between Wallace and the Rose Lake exit, you can take the old road (former US 10) the whole way. East of Wallace or West of Rose Lake, you have to get on I-90 or take some very long and round-about logging roads that are still full of snow.

Unfortunately, after going 100 miles, I still couldn't get in the last 9 miles to my land because the road was washed out. After about 4 hours of hand-mucking I got it to where maybe a unimog could get through with some serious pucker factor, but I don't think I would attempt it even with the M37. It washed the road away down to bedrock on a steep cliffy side hill. I got it to where you could get down into the gulch pretty easily, except for two big boulders than an M37 wouldn't clear, but getting out of it on the other side requires climbing bedrock while heeling over a frightening amount. I'm afraid it's going to have to wait until the Forest Service gets someone to fix it. It needs the culvert mucked out and then about 30-40 yards of fill into the gulch.

I think that heavy rain we had about 2 weeks ago is what caused all these slides and washouts.
