I didn't take the M37. It's not fit for any kind of long trip like that. It's not fit for any trip at all until I get the front brakes to quit locking up. Probably dirt in the front line or a rotten hose. I was driving my grandpa's '67 chevy pickup -- better for highway speeds and gets a whopping 12 mpg instead of 6. This washout was too much for an M37, though, so it wouldn't have made any difference. The way it is, anyone trying to go through would have to straddle two rocks that are about knee-high above the stream bed.

It was interesting to see how high the Cd'A and St Joe rivers still are. They look like they're down about 2' from their peak, but still all the farm fields and cottonwoods are flooded. There is still a huge snow pack up high, and it has a very high water content. According to the SnoTel data, every river basin in the northwest is at least 50% above average, and most are twice average. Many snow gauges are showing 5 to 7 TIMES the average snow pack for this time of year. We had about a normal amount of snow last winter in town, but above 4000' the snow really piled up, and kept getting rained on enough to make it really dense.

Apparently this is now an a predicted result of climate change, whereas 10 years ago when we were having a series of dry years, were were told to prepare for more drought as a result of global warming.
