You right the dealer cant be trusted,, I would not trusted what anyone at a dodge dealer told me as factual UNLESS I did my own research!! (do some of your own and you will see the 1994-2002 2500 and 3500 dodges used a Dana 60 front axle)

I cant tell you how many times I have been to a dodge dealer and have been told the wrong info,, I say wrong because I had done my own reading/looking over/researching on what I was going to look at long before I went there,, in the first place. I think for MOST (note most) guys that work at a dodge dealer it is a JOB, and that is it, go to work get a pay check go home. It is not a passion like it is for most of us.

Back to Dana front axles, I never said that there was anything wrong with Dana 70 front ends, or that they are not strong, you said that a 90s front axle would be a downgrade for a W300. IMO I don't think so.

What do you get, from a 89-93 Dana 60 front, that you don't get from a Dana 70F you get open knuckles (turn better) easier to service, you get disk brakes, easier to get parts for ANYWHERE, better safer brakes over all, you get 35 spline axle shafts, instead of course spline axle shafts, which over time have proved to be weaker then fine spline axle shafts, (look at any guy building a rock crawler or serious off road truck, what do they look for 35 spline axle shafts, found in most Dana 60F's, not the old Dana 70F's) fine spline shafts are stronger then course. There might be other benefits, but those are the main ones.

I stepped in only because you put wrong info out there about dodge going back to the Dana 70 front in the 1994 and newer trucks, and while I was at it I thought I would offer my "opinion" that a Dana 60 axle from a 89-93 CTD dodge is as stronger if not stronger then the old Dana 70F's and would NOT be a downgrade.

All that said,, would I take a front Dana 60 axle out of a 89-93 dodge and put it under some older W300, heck NO, but not because of stronger or weaker, but because I like my old trucks for what they are, and original as I can keep them, I don't try and make them into something that they are not. I think you loose a LOT of character on them old W300's when you take away the 6 lug budd rims.

Sure Dana 70F's were around for a long time, but so were a lot of things that have been fazed out, we now communicate via the internet and not with smoke signals anymore, Dana 60 and 70 axle share a lot of the same parts, same diff cover, over the years "some" have the same wheel bearings, same wheel bearing nuts on most years also, and some of the diff bearings are the same between a 60 and a 70 in some years, the only big difference is the size of the ring and pinion, and the diameter of the axle tubes, and open or closed knuckles.
