I kinda look at it the same way keep what ever era it is from that way. I am very aware of the higher strength of fine spline over coarse. I think the 70F went fine spline (or finer spline) in 69 or so. Coarse spline in the weak point of FFPW axles. just an engineering development that came to late for the early stuff. But you know waht axle assembly I have never seen broken? the big knuckle Dodge 44. very tough for a 44. Also never seen a WC 3/4 ton 9 & 5/8" front axle assembly with broken anything either. But have seen a number of the PW tracta axles break.
