Sticking clutches seem to be a common problem. One of my M37s is now stuck and blocked down, after having sat all winter. One of the Sno-Cats got stuck repeatedly, so I've left it blocked down all the time, but thanks to your warning, I think I better not do that so as not to wreck the springs. So far, I've always had them come loose after leaving it blocked down for a week or so and then slamming it in gear or jerking it back and forth some.

Having seen quite a few cases of old clutch facings and brake linings stuck to steel, I suspect there's something about the old asbestos material that makes it more prone to rusting to the metal than the newer non-asbestos material does. Perhaps it absorbs and holds more moisture. I would be curious if anyone has had a modern non-asbestos clutch stick.
