That's a brilliant idea. I love the simplicity of it. On my 7U D4 cat, the engine clutch lever will hold in either position, but the dry-plate steering clutches spring into the engaged position when the levers are released. I had the left one seize up on me 2 years ago, but after leaving it with the lever tied back all winter, and then running the machine hard into a rock on the left corner of the blade a few times, I recently got it broken loose. Doing that last summer had no effect so I think tying the lever back last winter helped some. I'll leave them both tied back over the winter from now on.
