I think now the Ford uses the same shoe as the dodge so one thing that could be making hard stopping is the lifetime guarentee shoes some stores sell. the compound is so hard that you lose stopping power, the sell them that way so they wont have to guarentee them (hard linings cont wear). I go with Abex if getting my own relined or the standard Raybestos set is good too.
