a big factor on the life of all axles and pinion seals is determined by the vent > yes the vent if not taken out and cleaned regularly will plug and the expasion of the HEATED AIR in side the diff will increase PRESSURE against the seal and leaks will occur 2) next big leak thing is play in said shafts there is not to much tolerance in the seal once the shaft is jumping around 3) contamimation either being from external like mud grit or even have tall grasses wrapping around shafts and destoying them 4)INTERNAL contamination ie bits of bearings ring pinion planatary gears ect fine grit form normal wear and tear builds and float for a priod of time untill its picked up by the magnetic drain plug SOOOOOOOOOOOO change the oil often i like to dump all the oils in the spring check it parts and such then top up to a half inch of the fill plug ~ j
