Yesterday I got a call from one of my sons, that everybody was going to be down for the long weekend at his place .This was a great opportunity to see all my grandkids at once .It wasn’t a long drive about forty five minutes away and I took my two daughters with me .When I got there all the grown ups where inside ,I was looking for the grandkids ,who were outside . What I expected was to see the mass of kids running around whooping it up ,but instead the bunch of them where sitting on these swinging couches things doing nothing .Now these are city kids every one of them a little pale and pasty from game boys , play stations and X boxes . Colin is the oldest grandson and knows me a little better ,he has been to the farm ,but doesn’t get out of the car because of the smell . Anyway the kids were sitting, and I was thinking about when I was their age . A sword fight came to mind ,so I cut a pile a sticks threw them on the ground in front of kids .It took some prodding but I got the reaction I was looking for , first from Collin ,then more and more joined in . I was holding my own against the pack, I still had some swash buckler in me yet . Even the toddlers were looking for a fight . After thirty minutes of defending myself I was out of breath but still going until I fell over backwards and then fell victim to the wrath of all the swords .I got welts on me like worms from the little devils, I got a good beat down .My oldest son Butch seen the licking going down and yelled “get off the oldman your going to kill him“ . I am laughing almost to a point of crying from the licking and the sword fight was over ! I went in the house to tend my wounds and clean up ,and when I went back outside all those pale kids had rosy cheeks ~ Copey
