city & county governments who have counted on
sales taxes generated by autodealerships that
are being closed are now having to redo their
budgets to account for the loss. Autodealerships are probably the biggest generator of sales taxes in small comunitities.
The Dealerships were not going out of business as most had restructured their operations to account for low NEW car sales
(which have not generated front end gross for
years) and focused on USED car sales along with Fixed Operations (service & parts) gross
the other big loser will be the consumer as
the competion goes away the prices for cars &
trucks (and Repairs) will go up (supply & demand).
visit one of the dealers in your area that is
being closed and ask them.
