Hi Joel,

I to run an IR two stage T-30.

I bought my unit new from a large dealer and was very specific that I wanted to spray cars with it. I bought the best oil and water separators I could get.

Here's the thing. One of the service guys happened to be behind the counter when I was telling the sales guy what I wanted to do. He told me to absolutely NOT run the IR synthetic oil that IR recommends if you're going to move lots of air volume or spray.

He said the synthetic blows by the rings more and mentioned that the large body shops know never to use it. They also recommended that I not as well.

Well, I fretted about this for several days because if one runs their synthetic, IR lengthens the warranty on the unit...

Ultimately, I went with the conventional oil and have never looked back. The unit is on all of the time and it's been 8 years with no problems (knock on wood).

So, you might find that an oil change with dinosaurs oil might just do the trick for you...

All of the other advice you were given is right on the mark...

As mentioned by someone else, pay particular attention to tip wear on your blaster as it sounds like you're moving a ton of air...

Good luck,

Steve
