I am goin to buy one of the hydro blasting set ups soons and will try to document its effectiveness. After seeing WillyN pics it looks promising. I like the idea of using water and sand as no heat will be generated to distort the metal. And the type of rust converter/metal treatment I use is designed to be used on wet raw metal stopping the flash effect of rust.
