Apology accepted, but none needed.
I did not start this thread to bash anything but the tie rod design, after 14 hours on the trail, 11 of them trying a field fix and then getting him home, I didn't want to go through that scenario again, that's why I posted the fix part number. I thought it was interesting. I'd much rather see him on the trail in a Chevy than a rice burner, but we had those with us too and yes we have towed home Toyota's and Nissan's before too. We have also towed Jeeps and Dodges, just not this day.
If you go back and read the posts, mine were pretty objective initially, it was the folks putting words in my mouth that I didn't appreciate, that is indeed childish. I'll take credit or blame for what I post, NOT for what I didn't say, or post, or think. One should keep in mind that this IS a Dodge board and as such I'm not going to worry about the sensitivities of other brands.
The fact is that Dodge uses American Axle Co. axles in their new trucks, that was once a GM division. GM and Ford use New Process transfer cases, a former division of Dodge. Delphi is now owned by the new owners of Chrysler, GM and Chrysler once shared a transmission and transfer case company, I can find Ford, GM and Chrysler parts in my AMC Jeep, so I don't need to be reminded about brand quality or brand superiority.
However when I see an obvious design flaw, and despite the denial's, this is a design flaw, I'll point it out whether it's a Dodge or a GM or whatever, after all this is a forum and that's what we do.
