My local mechanic/friend says that there is too much (forward/back) play at the point where the front drive shaft enters the NV241 transfer case on my 1991 CTD.
Dodge Dealer #1 can't get to it for a month.
Dodge Dealer #2 refuses to take on any new customers.
Dodge Dealer #3 says they would just recommend a rebuilt one.
Local tranny franchise guy (whom I trust 100% as a straight shooter) says they are too complicated for him to rebuild, due to lots of bearings and other small part hassles.
I took a look on Google and Ebay for used or rebuilt NV 241's, no luck.
I took a look at the official NV website and it's lame.
As usual, more answers than questions, and none of them the one I want to hear.
Advice from the Elders of the Tribe would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you, APB
