All you have left to try are the head gaskets, spark advance and water pump. If the spark advance is working properly, I would go with replacing the head gaskets and having the heads checked for cracks. Just because the previous owner said it ran fine 15 years ago, is no guarantee it did, but the number of years it set can also cause problems. This is one of those cases where you just eliminate possibilities until the problem is solved.
