yeah, i do think the Deuce axles would require a bit more work than my other options...and although everything you list ("overdrive, 4.89 gears, disc brakes all around, a pair of Dan's ARB lockers and a set of stronger axle shafts. Then add in a PS box and dual master cylinder with power brake booster like Paul in NY did") sounds nice, it also sounds damn expensive!!!
i think what i'm going to do is either buy a CUCV from ft. knox and use the axles under it, as long as the auction on GL doesn't get to outrageous, or just head to the local salvage yards and try to find a set of D60s or D70s with a gear ratio in the fours...
couple that with the V8 and tall tires, and i think i'll get all the speed i need.
am i totally wrong???
