For anybody who is interested, I found out that a
heatriser can be free but still not open. Apparently
the bimetal was broken, causing it to stay shut even
when the engine was hot. Most the exhaust was
backing up and crossing over through the intake
manifold; NOT a good thing! To those who wrote
