Keith, Just an idea, I work on large rear ends as a mechanic. When ever I have a broken axle I make sure to remove the third member for a full inspection. 9 times out of 10 I find more damage in the carrier, spider gears etc.I also find that pretty metal hamburger floating in both axle tubes and third member.You got it this far go the distance.
