I owned a 98, Dodge 2500, V10 with Auto. Best gas mileage was 9 to 10 mpg. When I pulled my Gooseneck with a PW on board, my mileage was in the 5 to 6 mpg. The engine had a lot of power, no problem pulling. The Auto (47RE) shifted up and down like a YOYO. My opinion, it was a terrible combination. I now drive a Ram 2500 CTD. Get in the 20's mpg empty and 16 to 17's towing the Carryall on the Gooseneck with a GCVW 19,500. CTD is bone stock.
