Same thing happened to me. I had two extra transmissions out of my pre 1951 junk trucks. I pulled the output shaft out of one to use in one of my 1949 B1PW and it was the wrong one!
My other 1949 has the later type, so maybe they switched mid year. I always thought that the transmission switch was between 1950 and 1951 model years, but I guess not.
