Jim, I just checked one of my trans. cases and " what do you know " it is just like yours. If you look inside the hole where the bearings go, you will see the needed snap ring in the case. I guess the factory did it this way in the beginning. I have another trans. with the PTO and it has the snap rings on the bearings.
